How to Search the Rangely Court Docket
A Rangely town-code citation begins with the paper ticket and a call to Town Hall. The town offers no municipal search form. There is no payment button, no calendar, and no docket download. No fine schedule or records form is posted either. Reach the office at 970-675-8476 or town@rangelyco.gov. Before you call, pull together the citation number, the cited name, the issuer, the issue date, the appearance date, and the named court. Those are preparation tips, though, not a published list of required fields.
- Read the issuer and full court name on the citation.
- Contact Town Hall for a Rangely municipal-code case.
- For a state case, select Rio Blanco County Associate Court in the Judicial Docket Search.
- Match the full case class and sequence, then record the hearing and appearance details.
- Ask the municipal or state clerk that owns the case for the register and named documents.
Keep the two clerks straight. Town Hall holds municipal matters, while the state Judicial clerk keeps the County and District Court files for Rio Blanco County. Sending a request to the wrong one only slows your docket search down.
Rangely's Two Court Layers
Here is the trap. Rangely Town Hall and the Rio Blanco County Associate Court both sit at 209 E. Main Street. A shared address does not make them one court. A town-code citation stays municipal no matter what. If a Judicial docket result shows a T, M, R, or C class, Courtroom 2, and an appearance method, it belongs to the state system instead.
| Layer | Case type | Contact |
|---|---|---|
| Rangely municipal | Town-code and municipal-ticket matters | 970-675-8476, town@rangelyco.gov |
| Rio Blanco Associate Court | State County Court and local state settings | 970-675-2342, RBCtyRangely@judicial.state.co.us |
| Rio Blanco Combined Court | Unified state-file and clerk support | 970-878-5622 |
When you call about a court record, give the full court name, the issuer, and the case class. An address alone can send your request to the wrong office.
The Rangely Municipal Court
The official Rangely municipal code shows that Town-code violations can be enforced through Municipal Court. The town publishes no dedicated court page. No judge or clerk listing, session schedule, or citation database appears online. There is no online payment form or fine schedule. So the accurate route is offline first. Town Hall lists regular hours of Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Friday hours run from 8:00 a.m. to noon. Summer hours from April through September run Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Those are general office hours, not a promise that the municipal clerk or judge is there at every moment. Call before you drive over.
Rangely Court Clerk Chain
When no online municipal result turns up, read the citation and call Town Hall. Ask who keeps the case register. Ask how to confirm the hearing date. Ask whether payment is allowed and how to request a named order. The town publishes no copy charge, certification method, or response deadline. That gap still does not permit the state record form for a municipal file. For a state T, M, C, or other Rio Blanco case, start with Colorado's free hearing docket. It shows the next setting. An approved vendor can supply a real-time Register of Actions. The state clerk provides filed documents and certified copies. By phone or email, use the Associate Court contact for local setting questions, or the unified Meeker clerk for record requests that stall out.
Address check: State and municipal offices share 209 E. Main, so say “Rangely Town matter” or “Rio Blanco Associate Court case” when requesting help.
Rangely Court Dates and Settings
For a municipal case, the paper citation and the town clerk control the date. The town publishes no general municipal docket session. State court is different. Open the Judicial Docket Search and select Rio Blanco County. Choose the Associate courthouse, County Court, a date range, and the full case details on offer. When a newer notice or order clashes with an older docket result, the newer paper wins.
| Date | The citation, current docket, or latest order supplies the live date. |
|---|---|
| Time | Confirm the exact state or municipal setting rather than relying on office hours. |
| Courtroom | State results may identify Rangely Courtroom 2. |
| Appearance | The state result can show IN PERSON or VIRTUAL. |
| Setting Type | The calendar may list advisement, plea, status, sentencing, or another hearing. |
A continuance moves a setting. It does not erase the case. If a notice and the docket disagree, call the clerk on the correct side of the system.
Rangely Associate Court Week
The state Associate Court keeps a short week. It is open Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to noon and 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Thursday hours run from 8:00 a.m. to noon. The court closes on state holidays. Showing up Friday just because Town Hall is open may still leave you facing a locked state counter. That three-day public week matters for west-county cases. Confirm a setting or counter hours through 970-675-2342 or RBCtyRangely@judicial.state.co.us. Anything unresolved locally can route through the unified Rio Blanco Clerk in Meeker, with mail going to P.O. Box 1150, Meeker, Colorado 81641. Note: No public terminal is confirmed at the Associate Court, so plan around the online calendar, the clerk contact, or the counter rather than assuming one exists.
Rangely Traffic Tickets
Which court handles your Rangely ticket depends on who wrote it, not where you live. A town ordinance ticket runs through the municipal channel. A state or county citation belongs to Rio Blanco County Court. Before assuming anything, read the citation itself. The issuer, the named court, the class, and the address are all printed there. In the state Judicial search, class T narrows a traffic calendar nicely.
The numbers tell two different stories. FY2024 brought 42 traffic filings at the state Rangely location. Eight were DUI. Another 30 were motor-vehicle. Four involved suspension, revocation, or denial. Those are County Court filings, and they are not Rangely Municipal Court totals. Official 2025 police reports counted contacts, citations, and warnings. Enforcement figures say nothing about how many cases opened, were paid, dismissed, or reached a hearing.
Town reports invite the same caution. One November 2025 report listed 178 traffic contacts, 25 citations, and 113 warnings. September's tally was 114 contacts, 14 citations, and 61 warnings. Many contacts end in warnings, and citations can follow different court routes. No report figure reveals a plea, finding, dismissal, or any municipal docket total, so the citation itself and the responsible clerk remain the true case-level sources. Rangely's 2020 Census population was 2,299. Population cannot be turned into a filing rate or case count for the town court.
Rangely State Court Payments
Paying a state-court matter in Rangely means following Ninth Judicial District collections instructions. Walk-in service runs on the Associate Court's limited hours. The phone payment line is 970-625-2342, and the collections investigator sits at 970-878-6104. By mail, send a check or money order, never cash. Include your name and case number.
None of that settles municipal payment rules. Rangely Town Hall has to confirm whether a town citation can be paid. It must also confirm what methods it takes and whether you must still appear. Meeker's no-credit-card rule does not carry over, since no official Rangely source backs it. And unless the responsible court says otherwise, paying never cancels a scheduled appearance.
Note: State phone and mail payment instructions cover an Associate or Combined Court file. They do not automatically cover a Rangely town citation.
Where Rangely Cases End Up
Town-code cases start in the Rangely municipal channel. State misdemeanors, traffic cases, civil matters, and small claims go to Rio Blanco County Court instead. Felonies sit outside municipal jurisdiction and move through state County Court preliminary stages on the way to District Court, which also holds probate, domestic, juvenile, and larger civil cases.
Docket flow: Rangely Municipal Court › Rio Blanco County Courts › District Court
Appeals are a blank spot here. The FY2024 Judicial statistics report no municipal appeals at either Rio Blanco state location. That silence proves nothing about the town court's record status, an appeal deadline, or the correct procedure for a case, so confirm with the responsible clerk. For the state layer, the Rio Blanco County court docket covers the search.
Rangely Dockets Beyond State Court
Federal cases run on separate rails. A different clerk and case number apply. PACER serves as the official federal docket system, while CourtListener's RECAP holds federal documents that users obtained and shared on their own. RECAP coverage stays incomplete, and neither service searches a Rangely municipal citation or a Rio Blanco state-court file.
The RECAP archive page displays that federal archive. Treat it as a supplemental federal resource rather than the official Rangely court docket.
The Town of Rangely homepage opens the municipal route. Its official page anchors the local clerk and town-code path for Rangely matters.
Choose a database only after identifying the court that owns the case.
Public Access to Rangely Court Records
Where you ask depends on the case. A town-code matter goes to Rangely Town Hall. Ask there for the case register and any named order. A state matter goes to the Judicial clerk for the ROA or a document. Juvenile, sealed, suppressed, probate, and protected information can be withheld or redacted. Government photo identification may be required when access turns on your role or legal eligibility.
Key rules:
Colorado Open Records Act applies to many municipal records, subject to statutory limits.
Chief Justice Directive 05-01 governs access to Colorado Judicial Department court records.
C.R.S. § 13-1-119 recognizes court-record inspection subject to rules and lawful restrictions.
A vendor ROA is informational only. A certified state record comes straight from the filing court. For municipal authentication, ask the town clerk, since no process is published.
Missing Rangely Court Records
A blank search result in the Rangely court docket can mean many things. The case might be municipal, not state. A state hearing may sit outside your date filter or live at a different courthouse. It might also hide behind a full case number you did not enter. Older files sit off-site. Juvenile, sealed, suppressed, and protected matters never show up in public results at all.
Begin again with the citation or the filing notice. Check the full court name, the issuer, and the class and sequence of the case number. Municipal cases belong to Town Hall; state cases belong to the Associate Court. Call whichever one applies and ask for the newest setting plus the document that proves it. An empty screen proves nothing about dismissal, sealing, or whether a case exists.
Rio Blanco state files from years past may need archive retrieval. Give the clerk an approximate year, a party name, the court level, and the case type. The published archive inventory lists early County Court civil and criminal files. It also lists probate material, District Court files, and naturalization records. Coverage is not complete, but it helps a clerk-led search when no electronic docket entry appears.
Ask for the right product, too. A hearing docket shows a future setting. A register of actions lists dated case events. A filed order or judgment is the court's written action itself. A certified copy adds the clerk's authentication. For state cases, the Judicial record form separates these choices. It can require identification for protected material. Rangely Town Hall can explain the municipal equivalent, since no form is posted for that route.
Spoken testimony is a different product. Request a transcript, not a register of actions. The state court reporter produces transcripts under separate timing and rate rules. No municipal transcript process is published. A quick call to the right office keeps state and town procedures from getting tangled. Make it before you pay or mail anything.
For a current state hearing, watch the appearance mode as closely as the date. Rangely Courtroom 2 allows virtual access only with prior approval. Watching a stream is public observation, not an appearance. It cannot replace the court's attendance instruction. Confirm permission and the live setting with the Associate Court beforehand.
Note: No official source confirms Rangely's municipal judge or session date. It also does not confirm the fine schedule, deferred program, copy fee, appeal deadline, or annual caseload.
